Pumpkins
There are many purposes for Jack-o-lantern's, from the traditional methods of pie or backyard compost, to a newer method of being placed in a clear plastic bag on your Grande Prairie collection day, just like other yard waste.
Adding pumpkins to your backyard compost helps:
Reduce greenhouse gas emissions
Free up valuable landfill space
Adds some variation of materials to your compost
Adds some variation of materials to Aquatera’s® landfill's compost operations
Place pumpkins in a clear plastic bag on your curb for your Grande Prairie collection day:
Pumpkins are easy to recycle as they don't come in any difficult packaging. And no special preparation in needed. You can recycle your pumpkin with the seeds and the pulp or without, and scary faces are optional. Kids can also have some great fun smashing up their pumpkin creations before placing them into clear yard waste bags or backyard compost. NOTE: yard waste collection ends mid-November.
Christmas Trees
Prairie Disposal Ltd collects Christmas trees at the curb for all customers who have an Aquatera® garbage cart in Grande Prairie. Those without curbside collection can bring their trees to the Aquatera® Landfill for no charge.
